Personal Integration : Tree of PH'4Q

As we found in the initial investigation of PH'5Q-Associating Arenas and confirmed in PH'2Q-Knowing Arenas, the 7 Arenas form a Tree with Centres that are meaningfully arranged and appear to reflect a psychosocial reality. Mouse-over thumbnail to review the PH'5Q pattern.

Naming

The Q-self-preservation sought via PH'4Q-Individualizing Arenas can provide the basics for personal integration. The Tree looks like this:

This Tree pattern makes good sense.

Dynamic Duality

Polarization can be identified at the expected levels:

  • L3: Q3-Relationship may occur due to spontaneous chemistry L3P which grows into friendship or social situations may force contact leading to relating L3S. The spontaneous form is the more powerful.
  • L5: Q5-Acceptance may be developed through naturally belonging within a group L5P or it may result from efforts that are appreciated L5S. Acceptance based on appreciation is more powerful.
  • L6: Q6-Hopefulness may be a matter of personal optimism L6P or it may be based in group morale generating team activity L6S. Group morale is the dominating force.

In all three polarized levels, there is a bi-directional influence between the two Centres with the usual pattern of dominance at each level.

The remaining Centres Q1, Q2, Q4, Q7 appear to be balanced.

Q's and Levels

Social exchanges essential for social life and self-preservation are satisfied in the most basic way via Q1-Sociability which is appropriately positioned at L1. It seems fitting that Q7-Self-protection and Q6-Hopefulness , the abstract high level arenas fundamental to healthy individualizing and self-preservation, sit at L7 and L6. Most immediately, these arenas shape Q5/L5-Acceptance within the relevant social context. Q4-Usefulness lies at L4, the heart of the structure with bi-directional influences to L5/Q5-Acceptance, L3/Q3-Relatioship and L2/Q2-Self-Confidence, as well as directly interacting with Q7/L7-Positivity.

There are likely important implications to be drawn from the channels that are not permitted, but this awaits deeper study.

Internal Duality

  • The Centres and Channels in the L1-L4 Content section use individualizing to thrive on social life with the actualization pressures from the Tree levels reinforcing the primary Q-pressures.
  • the Centres and Channels in the L5-L7 Context section use individualizing to sustain potentials for participation, with the transcendence pressures from the Tree levels reinforcing the primary Q-pressures

Taken together, this supports naming PH'4QK: Determinants of Personal Integration.
